This course has two aims. The first aim is to give insight into contemporary philosophy (in the analytic tradition): what it is about, how it is done, and why it (if done properly) matters. The second aim is to improve students' analytical reading and reasoning skills, skills to recognise and apply philosophical concepts in their reasoning. The course will comprise independent study materials, homework assignments, seminars. The course will cover a couple of philosophical questions and philosophical answers that have been central to 20th - 21st century philosophical discussion in the tradition of analytic philosophy. Each week will focus on a particular question. In order to pass the course, the students must regularly submit their homework and attend the seminars. There is no exam or essay in the end or the course.
